One question that has been popping up lately is "should college athletes be paid a salary?" You can't go on the Internet these days and not see some type of college sports headline. The world of college sports has changed dramatically over the past decade because of college athletes. These athletes earn insurmountable sums of money and an incredible amount of college endorsements. Athletes who provide and earn a lot of income for colleges also spend much of their time practicing and engaging in sports, and they must maintain good grades in school, which requires quite a bit of overtime. Because college athletes generate enormous amounts of revenue and dedicate enormous amounts of personal time to their individual universities, colleges must financially compensate players for their contributions. The colleges represented by these superstars are reaping all the benefits of the athletes' achievements, but the star players gain nothing from what they do. While the coaches of these sports teams benefit greatly, the players still receive nothing. The coaches are getting too much. One of the main points of the unfairness of coaches to players is that coaches are allowed to advertise while players are not. Coaches receive very generous compensation for advertising, so why is it a big deal if a college athlete is paid to appear in an ad? Coaches are able to receive huge deals from companies and can earn over a million dollars a year.
