What is my nursing philosophy? What is my nursing metaparadigm? For me, the person or one receiving care is my patient. The person is the one I will take care of during my shift. The setting in which I care for my patient is the long-term care facility or intensive care facility. It is their temporary home to achieve better health. Sometimes he or she may remain at home until the end of life, such as in a long-term care facility. For me, health is how I feel and how my body feels every day. If I feel good, have no pain and am active without problems; I'm in good health. My patients expect and hope for the same. They want “good health” without problems or pain. They want to wake up and feel good so they can enjoy the day. As a nurse, health is someone's well-being, their strength and their current condition. These people, my patients, need the nursing care I provide for a variety of reasons. Things like, can't take care of themselves or activities of daily living, are in pain, are sick, or need help with medications are some of the reasons. For me, healing means taking care of the sick, it's simple. Nurses help and care
