“When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right” this quote by Victor Hugo symbolizes the new era of human rights. Over the years, countries around the world have witnessed terrifying, yet life-changing revolutions, but no one in history expected a revolution as swift and sudden as the Arab Spring to begin. The Arab Spring may be seen as a dangerous and terrifying issue, but for those protesting for change, it is an unforgettable and life-changing event in history. This political unrest has led most Middle Eastern countries to more democratic governance and has allowed millions of people around the world to echo these protests to help an important cause. It all started a revolution and since then we have had many of the largest protests in history, the rise and fall of the economy, a different side of the revolution and the positive effect it has had on the world. At the end of World War II, the world experienced fifty notable revolutions that all led to the Arab Spring. The Arab revolutions began in 2010 when a Tunisian man attempted suicide by setting himself on fire to protest government officials who removed his fruit stand from the streets because he did not have the proper license to own it. The reason he didn't have one was his poverty and lack of work in the country, and this sparked protests from the poor in Tunisia. Ben Ali, president of the country for 23 years, realized the violent effect that the protests had on the population and immediately announced that he was trying to lower the unemployment rate, but the violence only aggravated the problem.
