What do your inner desires reveal? What motivates you to overcome all obstacles? What stimulates ambition? What can turn fantasy into reality? Dreams. Dreams are born like seedlings planted in the mind and, as they grow, so does the will to make them come true. The process of turning a dream into reality is anything but short. Environmental factors influence the development of dreams. When Mohandas Ghandi was a child, he lived a charmed life among India's merchant caste, but this did not blind him to the atrocities inflicted on the Indian people by the British Empire. Having witnessed and experienced the racist and social-Darwinist policies of the British colonial government, he knew he had to stop them and alleviate the problems plaguing 19th and 20th century Indians. Andrew Carnegie's environment also greatly influenced his aspirations. Growing up in anonymous Dunfermline, Scotland, Carnegie always dreamed of becoming something more than where he came from. With that dream he and his family moved to America to pursue what is known as the "American Dream". The 19th century environment was conducive to the development of dreams because the world was full of social injustices but also many opportunities. After your dream has been developed, you need to plan and start taking action. Ghandi went to London to earn a law degree that would help him maneuver the imperial legal system. Starting small, he traveled to South Africa to help the local Indian population. It was here that he cultivated his ideals of religious pluralism and realized the full extent of racist imperial policies. By moving to America, the Carnegies brought their son one step closer to his aspirations, and although... halfway... without skills from his previous jobs, he was able to overcome wealth. even of the golden tsars. Ghandi, more determined than ever, returned to India with the intention of liberating it, but, by rallying his people and protesting tenaciously, he managed to achieve his final goal: independence. Carnegie, thanks to the business acumen he learned as he went along and his pure desire to complete his ultimate goal, was able to transcend social and economic barriers that many thought were impenetrable. Only with hard work were these men's dreams realized. Success is a person's dream goal and can take many forms. And a dream is nothing but a dream until it is put into practice. But what these men have demonstrated is that through discipline and determination one can ascend to heights that transcend dreams themselves. If you want success in your life remember: "To be successful you must first dream."
