The boy in the striped pajamas In the story of the boy in the striped pajamas there were many characters but one of the main ones was Bruno, a child of eight year old who loved to play and explore. Bruno had a big mind and didn't like dull or boring things. He likes excitement and adventure. You could see that Bruno was also a very curious boy because he saw the concentration camps from the window and thought it was a farm. So he asked his parents about it and they didn't give him any details, so he went on an adventure to find out what it really was. Bruno was also a very interesting character. It made you wonder what would happen next. Bruno wasn't a bad person, he was actually just an innocent kid from Berlin who was dragged into his death because of his father's choices. He has a tense relationship with his family, especially since they moved away. His parents are very strict, especially his father. For example, when "The Fury" came to the house for dinner, the children had to go straight to bed. Bruno also doesn't know much about his father's job, except that he is a soldier. Another main character in the story was Shmuel. Shmuel was also an eight-year-old boy. It was a little different than Bruno thought just because he was Jewish. Shmuel was a very sweet little boy on the other side of the concentration camp fence. He didn't deserve to be in that camp. He was also very kind to Bruno and they ended up becoming friends. Shmuel was also a sad boy because he no longer had a life. The SS officers didn't even think of him or other Jews as a person, which is tragic. Shmuel is also a little more mature than Bruno. He has great knowledge of this horrible situation. The outside world is... half paper... and if you don't find something to do you'll be bored." Bruno: Why do you wear pajamas all day? Shmuel: The soldiers. They took away all our clothes. Bruno: My father is a soldier, but he's not the type to take away people's clothes. "I chose this line from the story because it's so sad that Bruno thinks that dad is such a nice man and he really isn't because he's the one who carries all their clothes off. “In his heart, he knew there was no reason to be rude to someone, even if it worked for you. After all, there was such a thing as good manners.” I chose this quote because you shouldn't be rude to someone just because of their religion or race and Bruno knew it. "I don't understand. One man caused all these problems?" I chose this quote because I feel the same way because it's crazy how one man can actually cause all that trouble!
