DecisionEverything you do is a choice. Choose the way you live today. As we walk the path of life, we come across crossroads and forks. Some are quite obvious about the turn we should take. However, not everything is easy in life. And in the fast-paced life we currently live in, we move so fast that we face many more challenges than before and often hastily decide on the choices we make. You will make decisions in your life. Some of these decisions will be incredibly good and will cause you to experience a much better quality of life. Other decisions will be inadequate, produce little benefit or, worse yet, cause more harm than good. Yes, whether it's right or wrong, it's still a decision you made that brought you to "you" today. It's unfortunate that most people I know blame circumstances or other people instead of themselves whenever they find themselves in a difficult situation. Oh, don't get me wrong here. I'm not trying to brag that I haven't made any mistakes or that I've never made a bad decision. I have my share of mistakes that I too once blame on my circumstances instead of myself. But after a while I started to realize that everyone faces the same thing in life. So why are some people successful and others not? You see, when we face difficulties in life, we are often presented with many choices to get around the problem. It's up to us to find out what they are and then decide the best course of action. Without a doubt, I will not deny that my best course of action will not be the same for you. But that's a whole other discussion. A friend of mine who I've known for years found herself fed up and tired of her current job. She hated getting up from… middle of paper… making a decision and being stuck where you are in life right now. It doesn't matter where you come from, what really matters is where you are going. The past is dead. It cannot be changed. It serves as guidance and wisdom so that you can make better decisions in the future. All that matters is where you go from this point on. You can't afford to cry over spilled milk. See the past as a sunk investment in your life. You can't take it back. So focus your attention on the future horizon of your possibilities and start moving in that direction. I just don't want to be like Columbus, who set out for the new world without knowing where he was going. When he got there, he didn't know where he was. And when he came back, he didn't know where he had been. This is how most people live their entire lives.
