In the article “The Battle Against Fast Food Starts at Home,” Daniel Weintraub argues that it is parents, and not anyone else, who have the responsibility to teach teach children healthy eating and exercise habits. He also states that "it is the fault of parents who let their children eat unhealthy foods and sit for hours in front of the television or computer." His argument that parents are responsible for childhood obesity is correct to some extent, but he fails to realize that fast food companies' marketing and advertising aimed at children also plays a large role in the problem. Parents are naturally responsible for their children's eating habits. They have a huge impact on whether their children want to eat healthy or not, or whether they want to watch TV or get up and exercise. Obesity may not seem like a big problem as a child, but it will become a problem as a young adult. Personally, I think the parents are to blame because they have a choice. They can cook a nice healthy meal for their kids or they can just go out and buy something at a fast food restaurant...
