There is a new automated offender management system that has been put in place at the state penitentiary. This document will provide a detailed definition of two motivational theories that will be compared and contrasted with each other and that could be used in implementing change at the facility. The motivated theories chosen are expectancy theory and equity theory. For managers and leaders there has always been the problem of motivating employees. If employees are not motivated, they will put minimal, if any, energy into their work. On the other hand, those who feel motivated to work are those who are consistent, inspired, and fruitful, and those who produce top-notch work that they eagerly accept. Motivation emerges, in current theories, within needs, principles, goals, meanings and expectations. Since motivation comes from within, motivation that employees understand should be cultivated and directed by managers. Expectancy theory is defined as a process theory. It clarifies why people choose one behavioral selection over others. To summarize this theory in simpler terms it means when individuals will be motivated because they think that their resolution will be a guide to the preferred outcome. This is a theory of workplace motivation that states that employees act in harmony with expected outcomes and how much they value those outcomes (Bernstein & Nash, 2008). It is further proposed that work motivation depends on the identified connection between people's performance, outcomes and adapted behaviors resulting from their calculations of expected outcomes. When you decide on the use of this theory you have a realistic and constructive advantage and... middle of the paper... and. To do this, communicate clear evaluations for any rewards awarded and a review of the performance on which the rewards are focused. There may be suitable comparison points to reveal.
