Inspired by an article I recently read titled "Remarks on the New Federal Constitution and Federal and State Conventions" by Mary Otis, warns literati against the annihilation of the independence and also speaks of the absence of a rule that limits the duration of office. I agree with public opinion that this is indeed a problem that needs to be solved. Someone shouldn't be able to run as fast as they want because that could create holes in the government system. The fact that they tried to conflate this without directly expressing it is also alarming. This gives us even more reason to believe that a central government could create too much power and give rise to that of a monarchy (doc 2). Patrick Henry, a delegate from Virginia, also agrees that citizens' rights are in danger. Including freedom of the press, trial by jury and rights of conscience. This transition contradicts the fundamental rights that a sovereign state should possess. Will we soon declare that we are a monarchy? Because the radical change that has been proposed would be equally radical. From my findings of both Patrick Henry and Mary Otis, ratifying the constitution would give the central government too much power because it would allow them to deprive us of our right that
