I've heard her called "The Crazy Lady" by their parents, her supervisors, and fellow kids who haven't met her. She doesn't always hear them because while they converse she is focused on the position of the 409 cleaner who has become her side kick. Whether it's cleaning a table that has become the canvas of a future Picasso, a sink that holds dirty brushes from major utensils, or quickly wiping a stain off the floor. The same spot he just swept to remove chips, dollar bills and the occasional crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwich. His current job, at this particular moment, is not to mingle with those who think he's unstable but to clean up before the next mess happens. I don't think she's as crazy as the kids claim. It is his unique way of implementing non-traditional activities, which children are not familiar with. Instead of ordinary games, it teaches them different variations of acting such as improvisation, belonging to democracies, public speaking and even inventing new games. I watched her silently instill leadership skills, purpose, and acceptance in them, with a smile and a slogan. I was with her while she filled water balloons for the children in the evening for the “Water Days” and organized trips in her free time. In the case of these children, most of whom rely on public assistance and reside in low-income areas, his ways are initially foreign to them. Over time, children stop questioning his ways, adapt to them and enjoy themselves. It is through their realization that she finds hers, just as she sees the same pieces of her past. In her early teens, she found herself not in a terrible situation but similar to that of the children she works with… middle of paper… and the developer. I witnessed different levels of government in action, refined an understanding of the process in which they work, and learned how their decisions affect others or vice versa. Right now I have the opportunity to take my knowledge to the next intellectual level, maximizing the opportunity to master a more complex part of the law. A speaker once stated, “The best thing you can give to the world is your best self.” I believe this institution has more than enough adequate tools to help me achieve this goal. In my free time I worked in five community centers on an as-needed basis, which is similar to five different cities. One thing remains constant when the camp is over the kids all ask me if I will see them again, I smile and tell them my slogan. When I see them next, they have forgotten "The Crazy Lady" and know me as Ms.S.
