Do you want to save a life? Would you like to be a hero? The time to be a hero could be right now, it's as simple as signing up to be an organ donor. Simple questions with a yes or no answer, but so many people choose not to sign up. When most hear about organ donation, they are either for or against it. Organ donation is considered the gift of life and is a selfless act that many people appreciate. An organ donor gives another person a second chance at life. An organ can fail at any time and this happens when a person least expects it. Every day the waiting list for an organ grows rapidly and there are not enough donors. A person could wait several days, weeks, months, or even years. That person must then practically live off a machine until a perfect organ match is found. Despite health concerns and myths, everyone should be an organ donor due to the severe shortage of needed organs. Every day more and more people are added to the waiting list and yet there are not enough organ donors to help. There are several people waiting for an organ donation. This number grows every day and the person who needs that organ lives in fear and hopes to find a partner. Families live in fear because no one wants to lose a loved one. Hearing the news that someone needs an organ is also equally scary. Many people realize that once a person has a compromised organ, they may be on the verge of death. People die from organ failure rather than any other cause of death such as a car accident or even another disease. When you find an organ donor for the person who needs it, the feeling is great, apart from other complications. Organ failure is a nightmare that families face sooner… middle of paper… in the near future. Works Cited Judson, Karen. Life and death issues of medical ethics.
