Solitary social class was very common among early primates and usually occurs when males occupy territories that overlap with a number of female territories. Primates of this social group usually have a better sense of smell and keen hearing. On the other hand, some disadvantages that primates present in a solitary social class can be detected by evaluating their predation levels. Studies have shown that these primates are more active at night due to their independent nature and do not have access to mates as they are lone rangers. According to the academic journal Evolution of Primate Social Systems, it is stated that “…nocturnal activity is strongly correlated with a solitary lifestyle, perhaps because group cohesion and coordination would be difficult and could attract predators” (Kappeler & Schaik, 2002). .
