Illegal Aliens: Friend or Foe? The debate over illegal aliens has raged for several decades; however, in recent years citizens have become more aware of the crisis. Illegal immigration is one of the most controversial political issues in society today. Illegal aliens and their immigration to the United States is a problem that must be addressed. It is unfair to Americans and the country they immigrated from. Whether they (illegal aliens) take jobs or strain American social service programs, the constant invasion of illegal aliens has promoted disrespect for the law and also limits our ability to control immigration. With the many ethnic groups coming to this country in search of a better life, we should reduce the people we allow for citizenship. Thousands of immigrants arrive in the United States every day. Many of these immigrants are illegal immigrants chasing the elusive American dream. We can all understand that a person wants a better life for their family than they had, every generation wants that. The two main reasons they are attracted to the idea of coming to the United States illegally are family connections and work. However, the cost associated with supporting millions of these, “undocumented workers,” a term used loosely by the Republican Party, but at what cost to the country and taxpayers? Illegal aliens played a vital role in... middle of paper...would pay to a legal worker. With almost no fear of prosecution by the US government, and with the government having turned a blind eye for so many decades, this cheap, renewable labor is an attractive alternative with almost no risk and higher returns for employers of work to be hired. With little regard for the working class, the American government is partly responsible for lacking adequate funding for border enforcement and neglecting illegal workers in exchange for their cheap labor. However, we taxpayers should not have to bear the full financial burden of this. The Mexican government played a huge role in the downfall of its own people; aliens are trying to leave their home country to ours in search of a better life due to corruption and poor economy which is not our problem but seems to be everyone's problem now.
