Having such a positive name encourages faith in many cultures and religions. All in all, entering the forest for Mr. Brown was one of the worst decisions he made in his life. When the reason to enter the forest he trusted was gone from everyone he knew because meeting the devil made him see everyone he met as evil. He also didn't trust his wife to whom he had been married for three months because he had distanced himself from her while she greeted him returning from the forest with open arms. Even more so giving up all of his faith to the devil because he was questioning his faith due to the strange things that were happening in the woods. The author of Goodman Brown uses people who had a great influence during his childhood and beyond. Later, when he first encountered the devil, he looked just like his father as he went on his journey to evil. Good Young Brown tells a story of good versus evil, as well as Mr. Brown's questioning faith and the religious beliefs he thinks he has in the divine world.
