Topic > Speculations about Columbine - 1503

Speculations about Columbine have been made, however with the death of the assassins; the best evidence to examine is what was left behind. Looking at the killers, he examines both the possible genetic and environmental factors that may have precipitated this tragedy. Missed opportunities to intervene or prevent this tragedy lead to potential blame. There are many to blame, the most terrible of which is the trail of deaths. In the blame game there are different emotions resulting from events ranging from anger to guilt to forgiveness. The reaction to the Columbine massacre has become a blame game as many have played a role in this losing battle. Eric and Dylan being the ones who pulled the trigger, the focus will begin with genetics, then the combination of effects on those around them and how they may have unintentionally contributed to the tragedy. Environmental or situational factors such as parental influence, Eric's manipulations, and peer socialization played a significant role. Eric Harris takes the blame and makes no excuses to point the finger at his parents. Eric's conduct disorder may be more genetic as he knew he was hereditarily bad. A study by Byrd, Loeber & Pardini (2012) implies that youth who engage in seriously delinquent behavior tend to show symptoms earlier. More convincing evidence is those with conduct disorders and symptoms of interpersonal insensitivity (Byrd et al., 2012). Eric with little emotional response except when it comes to primary responses reveals that it is genetically probable. Eric's father being a military man could imply a hereditary rather than emotional conditioned response. Genetics is not the only factor in distinguishing a psychopathology.
