Not only have gas and oil prices changed, but they have caused everything else to rise in price. The cost of living and the way people live are affected by these rising costs. In this article I will discuss the different ways these prices affect everyday life. The way everyone has changed things in life is transportation and business costs. Gas prices have changed a lot over the years and it appears that costs are going up and that won't change. According to Foreman (2008), in 1981 the cost per gallon was $1.35 and now the cost is between $2.84 and $3.23. One of the reasons the cost of gas is increasing is due to the rising cost of oil. Fuel prices affect the daily lives of the people who live there, with driving, living expenses and the cost of living. Families need to budget for fuel and don't have to drive as much. Oil prices are at their highest levels and the impact of this is the cost of gas and the cost of living. The cost of the barrel goes up, at which point the cost of fuel goes up as well as daily costs. The cost per barrel is “from $91.77 to $100.09 (oil price has risen above $91 per barrel, 2008),” just this year and only seems to be getting worse. The war has helped raise the cost of oil, because we are at war with Iraq and that's where we get our oil from. There is a shortage of oil and with that the cost of oil will increase, as will the cost of living and the cost of fuel. Throughout the United States, individuals are feeling the effects of high gas and oil prices. These prices are starting to hurt our economy because people are no longer able to travel as much as they used to. Families feel hurt when they travel because when people go camping with children, food costs more than their budget and the same goes for fuel.
