Topic > Contributions of Edgar Allan Poe - 1623

Poe was an American poet who contributed many great pieces of literature to our society. His works illustrate and portray a realm of paranormal and morbid beauty. In every poem one usually finds a demonic undertone, which is often summed up in a kind of conclusion that may in one way or another concern the reminiscences of his life. A common choice of topic for Poe was his love for his wife Virginia, who tragically died of tuberculosis. Her poems that revolve around her, more often than not, contain a tone of sadness, loneliness and desperation. In both "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" he refers to her as the long-lost Lenore. Whether it was a way to idolize or remember her, he always seemed to do it in a disturbing and surreal way. In "The Raven" Poe's character gets up late at night and reads to rehearse. and pass the time. Although exhausted, he cannot sleep because his thoughts are haunted by his lost love, Lenore. She apparently died, leaving him alone and in a state of incomprehensible sadness. The atmosphere of the poem immediately begins as a cold, chilling, and mysterious environment. And the unexpected interruption during the memory of his love shifts the reader from a state of shared remorse to a sudden and rather frightening curiosity. When the numbing spell of pain is abruptly ended by a sudden "blow" the character dismisses it as nothing more than an unexpected visitor. But when he opens the door and finds that no one is there at night, he calls his Lenore, as if to confirm his sanity. Seemingly shocked and now paralyzed by the mysterious apparition that never arrives, the character becomes distraught. After thoroughly investigating the scene… in the middle of the paper… I had some kind of personal experience and this is how it came to be that if the crow had come to deliver the message “never again”, he would have seen or experienced the love of his wife. But concluding that he loved her as much as the "Annabel Lee" character, he personally believed that even after death they were still in love with each other. Because in life they had loved each other more than anyone else even though they had only been together for a short period of time. Both poems have many similar characteristics. Both are about love and loss. How even after loss, love can still go on. And even if a love is gone it doesn't mean it's gone forever. May they remember the happiest memories and moments shared. Even if their physical being is no longer present. Poe seemed to do this through his literary works. And this is what makes him such a particular writer.
