Physical therapy plays an important role in many people's lives every day. It is up to those who practice the profession of physiotherapist to assist patients in rehabilitation, prevention and treatment. Obtaining a physical therapy license requires relevant certifications and credentials. A bachelor's degree in health sciences is just the beginning of the educational requirements needed to be successful. As with any profession, there are some current issues in the health care field that affect physical therapy. This includes the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and people with disabilities. It is essential to be a respectful and professional physical therapist. Patient care is a priority. Having the proper training and knowledge to assist customers is extremely important. People of all ages need physical therapy for various injuries, illnesses and diseases. I feel like my connection to working with people of all ages will benefit me when it comes to work. Even though I know what my strengths are, I have goals set for my future in physical therapy. These goals include: graduating from Kaplan University with a bachelor's degree in health sciences, graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a doctorate in physical therapy, receiving a license from the State of Massachusetts, and obtaining employment in a sports or rehabilitation setting. I know that Kaplan University Career Services can help me achieve my goals as a physical therapist because of their in-depth assistance programs that can help me with my career desires. In 5 years, I see myself working with injured athletes or veterans in a rehabilitation setting or local hospital.
