Love Conquers All in A Worn Path Love is a strong force. Love can make a person do strange and sometimes heroic things. Eudora Welty introduces us to Phoenix Jackson in "A Worn Path," a story about a woman's love for her nephew. Through Phoenix Jackson's actions, the reader learns that love can conquer anything. This theme is demonstrated through Phoenix's determination, his ability to overcome obstacles, and his reaction towards the clinic's employees. Phoenix Jackson is an older woman. The politically correct term "elderly" does not accurately describe how old she is. She no longer sees well, walks with a stick to help her with her unsteady gait and occasionally imagines objects that don't really exist. Despite its age and fragility... middle of paper... strong. He makes this treacherous journey into town to get medicine so he can live another six months, and still has to make the reverse journey to bring it back home. Work Cited Welty, Eudora.
