Social norms are applied to boys and girls from birth. Society is harder on women than on men every day. Women are not afforded even simple human rights that a man doesn't even have to fight for. It's as if we coexist with each other on the same planet, but in reality we come from two separate worlds of experience. Girls are sexualized before they even know what sexuality is, and boys are encouraged to sexualize women as soon as they gain an interest in doing so. But when the roles are reversed, the woman is shamed for embracing her sexuality while the man is instead praised. Why does this happen? How is it that a man can sexualize a woman as much as he wants, but once a woman sexualizes herself she is ashamed beyond belief. Women's rights have come a long way since Wollstonecraft's time, but we still have a great fight ahead of us. Why is the government… is the government still able to control what a woman can and cannot do with her body? Why is it any business of members of Congress what women in the country they will never know personally choose to do with their bodies? When men lost complete control over women by forcing them into obedience, their egos were badly hurt because they were created with the power to be dominant over us, but when that power is taken away, what is left of them?
