We focused more on reading literature, advertisements, and poetry. I started enjoying my English classes again and thought the horrors of having someone read my shoddy writing were over. During my freshman year of high school, I had an amazing English teacher. Mrs. Aleshire, always had hope for me in everything I had done. He never gave me bad marks for things I didn't understand. He would just sit me down and show me what I needed to work on. He would actually try to teach me how to fix it. Unlike many teachers I had before who would simply give me a low grade, then leave it and move on without me fully understanding what I had done wrong. We wrote a lot of poems in his class. I have always liked writing my own poems. When it was just for my entertainment they had no rules. I wasn't forced to think thoughts, which were about a topic that didn't interest me, the ones that made my mind freeze and then lead it to a blank. During one lesson he had returned our poems that we had written along with the artwork. I didn't get mine back, but she asked me to see her at the end of the period. After class he explained to me that he loved the poem I had written for his assignment. Then he asked me if he could keep it. She wanted to frame it so she could give it as a wedding gift to a friend of hers. I was completely shocked, but extremely happy. I have never had positive feedback
