Being a software engineer is much more than just programming. It's an opportunity to help other people through the power of technology. Having this job gives engineers the power to impact other people's lives through programs that could help them with everyday tasks. Software engineering is a growing occupation, which means more and more jobs open up for this position every day. Also, one of the perks of this job is how much money you make. Software engineering is a good job because the market is expanding, it pays well and this job can help other people. Becoming a software engineer is not the easiest task. To become a software engineer you usually specialize in computer science (CUnet 1). A bachelor's degree in Computer Science is the most common degree among software engineers. It is the most common because it covers a wide range of topics that software engineers need to know for this profession (US Department of Labor 1). Software engineers need at least a bachelor's degree in computer science to be hired by companies. Although Computer Science is the most common degree among software engineers, there are other subjects they specialize in as well (US Department of Labor 1). It is recommended that while pursuing a degree to become a Software Engineer, students participate in internships and participate in projects to be hired by companies once they graduate from college (Career Focus 1). If a software engineer does not major in computer science, he or she will most likely major in computer information systems, software engineering, or mathematics (CUnet 2). To become a software engineer who loves math and having engineering acumen is a must, loving math and being good at it will significantly help… middle of paper… things software engineers need to learn, if you don't learn these things you will be at a disadvantage and limited to what you are capable of.
