At the beginning of the poem he says "Death, don't be proud, even if some have called you/mighty and terrible, because you are not like that" ( Line 1-2) Donne says that death is described as something very powerful and even scary, but he doesn't agree with this at all. Later in the poem Donne compares death to sleep, something that is feared by no one, stating "A little sleep past, we awake eternally" (line 13). “Death brings greater relief and pleasure than rest and sleep, which people use to restore their energies” (Philip), “The poet compares death not to a wild desecration, nor to a fatal and final battle, but rather to an extension of every easy rest" (Schaper). In my opinion, this was one of the most degrading lines Donne used in poetry, eliminating all the deaths
