Not everyone can be selected to become one, but everyone has the potential to become one once leadership skills are applied. To qualify, you must possess and demonstrate certain leadership skills to become an effective facility supervisor. The leadership characteristics that a facility supervisor should have are to be an inspiration to all, provide guidance/feedback to their staff and accept criticism from higher authorities, appreciate excellent work efforts from staff, increase positivity and motivation to complete tasks, know how to plan and strategize to complete required tasks, use great problem solving and communication skills, and have limited power over staff. Being a facility supervisor doesn't mean taking on the role of leader and bossing people around while you just sit back and watch. It means guiding staff to work together and complete necessary tasks effectively. Facility supervisors must also persuade others to follow the directions they want to go; therefore, supervisors must be strong and create the atmosphere towards which staff can be motivated
