Border Patrol The United States Border Patrol to me is very important to the United States of America and to me too. Without the Border Patrol, America would be a goat in a cage of wolves. The Border Patrol and its agents cross America's borders so we can be safe in our homes. People don't realize how important any type of law enforcement is, until the day comes when they need assistance. I don't take our men and women who protect us Americans; it's something that not everyone can say they have. I have no one in my family who has worked with the Border Patrol and I want to be the first in my family to join the Border Patrol. I'm from Del Rio Texas, a border town with Mexico. The U.S. Border Patrol has had a major impact and long history in Del Rio. The Customs Border Patrol website states that: "Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents provide law enforcement that not only impacts the quality of life of people along the border but of the entire United States." police force that has served Del Rio since July 1, 1924” (Border Security Along Borders, web). The flow of illegal immigrants across the Rio Grande River poses a challenge to Border Patrol agents assigned to the area. The absence of artificial barricades to control points of entry gives illegal immigrants and foreign and narcotics traffickers passage to cross virtually anywhere along the 210-mile border with Mexico. Few foreigners remain in the Sector area. Local farmers and ranchers are not allowed to hire illegal aliens to fill available jobs in the area, "Most illegal aliens try to get to San Antonio or Houston, where construction workers are always needed... in between of paper......elements, web).To be honest, I wouldn't see the United States of America being where it is today if the Border Patrol didn't exist , not only to make my country proud, but also my family.
