Although there are many laws and organizations to prevent this crime, many do not respect these laws and continue to abuse as before. In families there are 1 in 4 women who suffer abuse and 1 in 12 men who suffer abuse. Many women suffer more than 4 million physical assaults and rapes from their partners, and men are victims of physical assaults. Women, however, are more likely to be killed by an intimate partner than men. Men experience domestic abuse, but often go unheard due to the fact that they are looked down upon since males are supposed to be in charge. However, we know that domestic violence can happen to anyone at any time. Many do not understand the kind of pain victims feel: despair, depression, grief and sadness. Some even become hostile, but there are ways to alleviate the problem. Some of the ways many people have tried to solve the problem have been by creating safe havens or organizations to protect victims from further abuse. Additionally, many organizations obtain cash grants to send to victims to help them if they have children. another way is to provide a hotline where they can call and speak to someone who can provide advice on what to do to help them. Finally they provide websites where you can chat with others who feel what you feel and talk to you about ways to prevent it, if they know. Last but not least, there is the police who can receive your reports and do their best to help you
