As discussed by Taylor (1986), the tomato is a type of plant in the Solanaceae family. There are many species of tomatoes around the world. Tomato is not easy to plant in Malaysia and it is also very important as a food for the citizen. This tomato plant is easy to grow in moderate temperature areas and originally comes from a location located on the dry west coast of tropical South America (Cooper, 1972). According to Picken, Stewart and Klapwijk (1986), there are different techniques for growing the tomato plant, that is, planting the tomato in the ground first or planting it as a medium plant in the planting house. Nowadays, tomato is a very important vegetable all over the world. The success of the tomato plant is based on the uniqueness of this plant itself, and the tomato can be classified into two parts: tomato market and canned tomato. Recently, tomato cultivation involves economic activities such as import and export due to the increased demand for fresh tomato and canned tomato (Wener, n.d.). We can determine the variety of tomato based on its size and shape. In Malaysia, cherry tomato is very popular among citizens because it has a good aroma and also has a unique shape. Nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium are very important for the successful growth and development of tomato plants. Furthermore, height, leaf area and flower growth must have a good relationship with the quality of fertilization techniques and the amount of nitrogen nutrient (Adams, 1986). Subsequently, under sandy conditions, when the potassium concentration level increases, good results will be obtained for the growth and development of the tomato plant as well as flowering development (Adams, 1986).
