“Hannah, you have to do these two.” Colasurdo felt a little offended that her boss didn't have as much trust in her, but her boss didn't realize that she had been on a swim team for several years, which gave her an advantage over the rest of the his colleagues. She successfully completed every additional rescue and test she was asked to do. Even though Colasurdo believed she had proven herself at the Y, her boss and supervisors still unintentionally and intentionally treated her differently. During one of her first shifts, her supervisor assigned her to water the plants at the Y because it was “women's work,” a term she used to explain why Colasurdo was the best person for the job. She took on this new responsibility with a polite nod, but from then on, she knew that her gender would likely land her with more assignments than her male colleagues. One day, Colasurdo took a break in the break room with some lifeguards. As she devoured her last Doritos chip, one of her male supervisors walked in. “Guys, there are crumbs all over the kiddie pool.” His supervisor looked around and pointed to Colasurdo. “Hannah, you should clean it
