Women in society are poor and live in poverty because they are discriminated against in the workplace. They are often not offered the same positions that may be offered to a male figure, so they have to work for less while trying to provide for their children if they are not married. This discrimination stems from the belief that women are not capable of completing a job with the same competence as a male figure.
