Topic > Society is becoming too dependent on computers - 924

The computer has been one of man's most influential inventions, paving the way for greater and greater achievements as time passes. Today, computers have become an essential component in carrying out daily activities in both our professional and personal lives. Computers are used to store large amounts of information and even replace humans in factories around the world. We must now ask ourselves: does this dependence on computers help the human mind reach its full potential or rather replace it and hinder our progress? Society has now become dependent on computers. How does this machine affect our youth and learning process? We have invented a machine with a greater and faster learning capacity than ours. A new generation has arisen who have used computers for much of their lives, so it is not surprising that they have become heavily dependent on the computer. Currently, humans only use less than twenty percent of their brains, and as computers do most of our work, this number is slowly decreasing. Pro-computer advocates argue that we are in the age of technology and that the computer can only take us forward. These devices play a huge role in our lives in one way or another. They serve many purposes and are used in various types of environments, such as medical facilities, offices, and many households. The world would be a much more difficult place to live in if computers didn't exist. Thanks to computers, everyday life is easier for us. These machines have allowed us to achieve the impossible. Society has developed greatly allowing scientists to discover great mysteries and medical wonders. “The brain-computer interface would allow humans to operate computers, wheelchairs, prostheses and other devices, using only brain signals.”…half of the document…become alarming as these machines could become very complex. With new forms of computing on the horizon, exposure and availability are increasing dramatically. It's true that computers bring many benefits, but they also increase the potential for unimaginable chaos. The day will come, sooner than we expect, when humans will no longer be needed to maintain the earth. Computers, for example, will be able to control vehicles and other devices. If all computers are programmed correctly, nothing can go wrong, however if a small program fails, it could lead to a disaster. As humans we must pay attention to the power of computers and try to maintain our role in the world as dominant beings and ensure that we are still in a position where we are able to control technology as it will be all too easy to suddenly find out that the technology is controlling us.
