The Metamorphosis occurs when Gregor Samsa wakes up turning into a parasite, but everything else appears normal, so despite having returned to normal, he goes back to sleep. As he begins to think about his job as a salesman and the fact that his boss never accepts excuses, "He was a tool of the boss, without brains or spine" (5) or what life is like for others who work in sales, look the clock and realized that he was late and had already missed the train to work and what consequences it would bring. Meanwhile his family started to worry why he doesn't leave the plane and finally his boss comes to check on him personally but Gregor's door was closed, he tries to explain his situation to his boss but suddenly someone understands a word, "Did you understand a word? The director was asking... Oh my God! [Gregor's] mother shouted" and so that Gregor does not lose his job because he still has to pay off his father's debt after the bankruptcy of the family business, Gregor manages to open the door with his mouth in a short time. But his appearance is horrible, everyone immediately rejects him, his boss leaves and the family forces him to stay in his room and Gregor, exhausted, falls asleep. Initially, Grete, Gregor's sister, decides to take care of him, noticing her brother's new tastes and Gregor remains under the carriage, watching her; taking his parents away from the task, they talked about the difficult financial situation they have and how they must resolve it during Gregor's recovery. Over time, Grete improves Gregor's situation and to feel more comfortable, she wants to remove the furniture and let Gregor move free; so, with the help of Gregor's mother, they began the task until Gregor withdrew, protecting his precious portrait and his mother... middle of paper... idea of himself as a man, as a provider of his family and more importantly what he wants to be, which leads him to complete discomfort with who he is and loses his mind in a parallel world where he is no longer afraid of the men in the portrait and lets himself go through his transformation and finally liberation in his death. Unfortunately, society's limited roles overwhelm people's minds, struggling between what a person should be and what they want to be, concluding that the only way to achieve it is to make this inner self disappear that does not allow one to develop under a certain role gender, but in the process, as shown in "The Yellow Wallpaper", he may reach a psychotic break or, as seen in The Metamorphosis, Gregor's deep depression, push him to lose control over his body, leading both to do be allowed to live in society and surrender to their condition.
