In Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, there were people who criticized her for looking too gaunt and questioned whether or not her previous political success was due to her husband, Bill Clinton (Lawless). This narrow media coverage of her appearance is a consequence of our culture's problems with gender stereotypes. However, the men who ran were not asked whether their success depended on others, as society has imposed the stereotype that women are valued only for their appearance.
