The United States of America has one of the most interesting and controversial socio-political histories in the world. The reason for this may be linked to the idea that the region achieved independence early, long before other states began to strive for their own self-freedom (Bindas 200). The political realm in the United States has been shaped and reshaped by various factors such as economic, social, and cultural differences among Americans. The political sphere has been shaped and/or influenced by the ideas and artistic viewpoints of different artists in the region through various art forms. Music is one of the artistic tools used by artists to educate or influence residents to vote for or against political candidates. The history of music as a genre can also be traced to the pre-slavery era in America. One major artist whose influence can't be swept under the rug is Joe Hill. One of his masterpieces was "The Preacher and the Slave" of 1911. Joe Hill crossed many states, not only in the United States but in other regions, in an attempt to convey the message contained in the object. The song urged all workers to rise up, work side by side and fight for their freedom. Hill's other influential songs include "The Tramp", "There is Power in the Union", among others. These pieces had a seminal influence on the history of politics across America (Hayes 103). “Bread and Roses” by James Oppenheim is another piece that has had some influence in American politics. Caroline Kohlsaat also contributed significantly to the creation of the music.
