Characteristics of God - The Meaning"What comes to mind when we think of God is the main idea about us." So says AW Tozer in his timeless novel The Characteristics of God, Familiarity with the Sacred. Why would he make this kind of extreme statement? We understand in our hearts that the above is accurate. It is not enough to follow "God". Then we are simply creating an idol in our heads, if we all simply make up our own thoughts about what He is like. Characteristics of God – The Foundation Jesus came to demonstrate the God of the Bible. And God showed himself in his novel. Any deviation with that penetration from Him is an invented God. Tozer in Knowledge of the Sacred reveals 18 aspects of God in the Bible. These characteristics are reiterated here, although not in exactly the same sequence. The Bible says to praise God for who He is, especially in prayer. Most of the Psalms are a good example of this. Most people focus their praise on just a few points, including God's love, and then spend the rest of their prayers asking Him for things. Aspects of God - The Characteristics Wisdom: Wisdom is the ability to devise perfect endings and also to realize these ends through the most perfect means. Simply put, God doesn't make mistakes. He is the Father who actually knows best, as Paul explains in Romans 11:33 “Oh, how great are the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!” Infinity: God knows no limits. It is without measure. This characteristic by definition has an impact on all the others. Sovereignty: This is the aspect with which He governs all His creation. It is the application of His other aspects of being omniscient and omnipotent. God is in control... middle of paper...
