The movie 300 is full of sexism. 300 actually accurately shows the Spartan woman. At the beginning of the film, when the messenger insults Queen Gorgo and says that she should not participate in the discussion because she is a woman. In the film the Spartan woman is a strong-willed woman, and the queen is the strongest of all because she advises her husband on military and political matters. Women were free unlike most cultures where women were seen as sex slaves and just someone who bore children and cooked. The Spartan woman helped further distinguish the Spartans from all other cultures. But with freedom comes the price of having to give up children at a certain age and being the reason there are Spartan men. Because just like the Queen said in the movie “Only Spartan women give birth to Spartan men”. Queen Gorgo had a very strong role in the political arena. When she was just a child she advised her father not to trust people from other realms. She tells her husband to return in any way possible, either be carried or go back himself. She asks him what she should do if he doesn't come back and he tells her to "marry a good man and have good children." In preparation for marriage, Spartan women shaved their heads and kept their hair short after marriage. Married couples typically lived separately, as did men under 30
