In today's world abortions are used as a gateway for unexpected pregnancies caused by many reasons, looking for a solution women tend to believe that an abortion is the way easier to get rid of these unwanted situations. In the essay “We Do Abortions here: A nurse's story” Sallie Tisdale describes the emotions and rules that she, being a nurse in an abortion clinic, has to face every day. Tisdale uses the paradox, her point of view and her metaphor to make the reader understand that choosing abortion, in any case, will not have a happy ending. Through her essay Tisdale uses paradox to help the reader deal with the pain and difficulties surrounding abortion. He describes his work by saying, “What we practice here is sweet brutality.” The use of paradox explains to the reader that abortion is harsh and brutal. Abortion ends the life of a fetus before it has a chance to grow into a human being, that is the ugly truth of what abortions do. But according to Tisdale, abortions can also be sweet.
