There have been many first ladies who have had a great impact on our country. One of those names was Rosalynn Carter. She was married to President Jimmy Carter and who was our nation's 39th president. There are four things that show Rosalynn's life, here her early life, her marriage to Jimmy Carter, her political life before the White House, her life in the White House and her life after the White House. At birth Rosalynn Carter was named Eleanor Rosalynn Smith and was born to Wilburn Edgar Smith and Allethea Murray Smith in Plains, Georgia on August 18, 1927. Growing up as a child, Rosalynn her two brothers, William Jerrod Smith and Murray Lee Smith and sister , Lillian Allethea Smith, never realized they were in poverty because they had no money, and neither did anyone else as far as they were concerned. By the age of 13, Rosalynn's father had died of leukemia. After his father's death he had to help his mother raise his other siblings. While Rosalynn attended Plains High School, she worked hard to fulfill her father's dream of her going to college. When he graduated from Plains High School he was a health-conscious. After high school he attended Georgia Southwestern College. While Rosalynn was serving at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, she saw a photo of Jimmy Carter in his Annapolis uniform and immediately developed a crush on him. Even though their families knew each other, they began dating in 1945. As Jimmy Carter drove Rosalynn, he surprised her with a kiss. This was surprising because she had never previously let a guy kiss her on a first date. In February 1946, Jimmy proposed to her and she agreed to marry him. The wedding was supposed to take place in July and they kept it a secret. R... in the center of the paper... between Israel and its neighbors. After leaving the White House they immediately fell into debt. By writing plans they were able to relieve the debt they had and were now able to open the Carter Center. In March 1983 the two worked with Kenneth W. Stein and other Carter administration associates and invited top leaders from a wide range of cities and towns to participate. Rosalynn Carter created and serves as chair of the Carter Center Health Task Force. Rosalynn Carter married Jimmy Carter and, who went on to win the presidency, became our nation's 39th president. He created many different laws and institutions to help those who had mental health issues. She has become a role model for all women around the world. She was one of the greatest and most influential first ladies of all time.
