He encouraged the soldiers and when there was almost no hope left the nation turned to Churchill. In this essay I will discuss Churchill's childhood, his rise to power, the negative/positive aspects of his leadership, and the lasting effects he made on the world. As a matter of fact, Winston Churchill made many significant contributions and overcame great obstacles which led him to become a hero and receive multiple honors during his lifetime. Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was born on November 30, 1874 at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire from an aristocratic family. He came from a long line of English aristocratic politicians. His father was a British man named Lord Randolph Churchill, the 7th Duke of Marlborough, and his mother Jennie Jerome, an American woman. They gave Winston a legacy in both the United States and Great Britain. Both of Churchill's parents were very busy people. Therefore, Winston's mother hired a nanny named Elizabeth Everest in which Winston later considered her to be a mother figure as she always took care of him throughout his childhood. On the other hand, as a child Churchill was sometimes rebellious and often got into trouble. He also wasn't that great academically at school. So he probably got a handful of beatings from his teachers. He attended boarding school when he was 8 years old. He subsequently attended Harrow, a private school, in 1888 at the age of 14. It took him about 3 attempts to pass the British Military Academy entrance exam, but he eventually enrolled at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 1893. To summarize, Winston Churchill's childhood was not a privileged nor happy childhood, his rise to power took a long time nor did it last long, he had some very bad cons and some good pros in his leadership which is why he it made a great leader and its effects on the world had a great impact on history. Furthermore, Winston Churchill died on January 24, 1964, suffering a stroke and then falling into a deep sleep, from which he never woke up.
