This process is equivalent to taking responsibility for and giving approval to the details of a design plan. In the engineering profession, it is unethical to approve projects outside your field of expertise. It would be unethical, for example, for a mechanical engineer to approve the electrical network design of a skyscraper, just as it would be unethical for a computer engineer to approve the structural design of a suspension bridge. The fundamental principle underlying this ethical standard is integrity: an engineer should not give his approval to a project that he cannot fully understand. An engineer with a Christian worldview should follow this practice not only because it is the right thing to do in the field of engineering, but more importantly because it is what God expects of His children (Hebrews 13:18). The Christian worldview makes the engineering profession more justified and more proactive. Although Christian engineers are not called to be full-time ministers, they are able to glorify God and be a shining light through ethical and diligent work in the engineering field. For this reason, Christian students pursuing the path of engineering can be thrilled and honored to play such a unique role in God's plan.
