The main problem faced by multinationals today is the shortage of qualified managers. This is putting a strain on how quickly they can expand their international sales. In recent years, progressive companies have recognized that human resources and intellectual capital are now equally important financial resources for building and maintaining competitive advantage. Even if a company fails to identify the perfect candidate through recruitment and selection, the only thing that can save it is a great training program. If the program is one of the best, whoever you bring in will have great training and learn everything they need to know. A great way to recruit is to gather all potential candidates in one room and start with a group interaction. This is a great way to see everyone's character, work knowledge, communication skills and interest level. You could almost set it up as a style of speed dating and this would allow you and many other employees to interact with each person. There are many ways to set up a group interaction; HEB is a company that organizes various activities that will demonstrate everyone's passion for the industry and knowledge of everything. Training should be a little more difficult and challenge people so that it remains consistent throughout their career. In conclusion, when a company sets its HR strategy, it must make the training part one of the most important parts of the whole thing. . But ultimately it all comes down to the employees and the desire to learn and grow in the industry. Recruitment and selection is only the first part of making a new hire the best they can be in the company, as soon as that person is hired they should have the correct training to put them up to par with everyone else in that department. Wal-Mart does a great job with its process, from recruiting to training. They hire past veterans and more qualified people, then put them through tough training to make sure they are fully ready.
