“Vaccines save lives; fear puts them in danger. It's a simple message that parents need to continue to hear." –Jeffery Kluger. The change of seasons can be very intense for some people. It makes them sick and very sick if they don't take care of themselves. Children among these people are very prone to getting sick more easily because their immune systems are not fully developed. Most parents don't know that this can be a simple solution if their children receive a vaccine during periodic seasons. Therefore there should be a regulation in the law that encourages parents to ensure that their children receive vaccinations. This will increase awareness of vaccinations which will help people get them so fewer people will get sick. Perhaps one of the greatest success stories in public health is the reduction of most infectious diseases resulting from the use of vaccinations. Routine vaccinations have eliminated smallpox from the globe and led to the near elimination of the wild polio virus. Vaccines have reduced some of the preventable diseases to historic lows, now fewer people are experiencing the disastrous effects of measles, whooping cough and other diseases. In 1954, a group of children at Arsenal Elementary School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania received the first injections of the new polio vaccine developed by Dr. Jonas Salk. However, the vaccine caused a sudden outbreak in 200 cases. According to the History Channel website, after it was determined that the cases were all caused by a faulty assortment of the vaccine, the manufacturing measure... middle of paper... convenient. Thanks to Dr. Jonas Salk the entire world, despite there still being many diseases, has come closer to preventing the spread. This is perhaps a stepping stone for scientists to completely eliminate the spread of diseases forever. Works Cited “Children Receive First Polio Vaccine.” 2014. The History Channel website.
