When I thought about leaving I had to stop and remember that I was leaving behind my mother who is a single parent with my younger sister. Being the older brother I had to take on a lot of responsibilities even as a child. So while I try to work, help my family and focus on school; as the classes became more difficult, I was unable to perform as well as I knew I could if all I could do was focus on school. My grades weren't that good and I even had to repeat some classes. At one point I got discouraged and wanted to give up because I knew how tough and competitive pharmacy school was. And it is in the institution's best interest to prepare students for success and ensure they can sustain the curriculum. I know I'm competent enough, even though I had a difficult degree, I knew I couldn't give up. I felt like if I continued to do my best, good would prevail in the end. During this time my mother became ill with kidney cancer. I was able to see how important drug therapy management is and understand how the drug works, which the pharmacist explained to me really gave me hope for my
