As a child I always spent time with stuffed animals. While most kids treated them like their best friends or even "students," I treated mine differently. I sat them on the couch and used them as my "patients." Crazy, isn't it? Even growing up, I was always the counselor to my other cousins. Whenever they had an argument with a friend or family member, they turned to me to let all their thoughts out. Considering I was a very open-minded child, everyone confided in me. Ultimately, the odds were not in my favor and I was the one who needed help. I took advantage of the situation and took it as an opportunity to ask questions about the career I've always been interested in. It's safe to say that this was the moment my interest in the work arose. As I took the interest profiler assessment, I began to doubt myself. I wasn't sure if this was the right career for me. When I finished, my three areas of interest were social, artistic, and investigative. The top three occupations were “Middle School Teachers,” “Special Education Teachers,” and “Recreational Therapists.” I was overjoyed when I saw that a therapist was one of my top choices. I think being a therapist would definitely fit my personality. Even though I can sometimes be very apprehensive when it comes to socializing, I believe I can be sociable when necessary. While I lack some social skills, I certainly don't lack empathy. I feel like a therapist will work in my favor as long as I make an effort to become more convivial. To find more information about therapists, I needed sources. I thought to myself, “What better way to discover a career than someone working in the career themselves?” At first I wanted to go to... middle of paper... eyes were also opened when we saw the film Inequality for All. Robert Reich talked about how we managed to change the economy. I realized how many people didn't see their own value. That's when I decided to take control of my life and actually do something because I know what I'm capable of. Now I know that I need to think about the future and plan everything so that everything "falls into place".
