This talk revolves around the development of art and architecture with reference to Egypt. It endeavors to highlight the various phases of the development of art and architecture in Egypt. Furthermore, it describes how different personalities, events and themes have influenced art and architecture over time. Not only are the progressive changes that have led to modern art and architecture discussed, but also the geographic, social, cultural, and political factors that influence art and architecture. It is important to note that Egypt has one of the oldest histories in world civilization. It is considered a pillar of intellectualism, politics, arts and architecture. Egyptian history has resisted the destructive force of time over the centuries and has permeated into major spheres of contemporary society (Moffett, Fazio, and Wodehouse 36). Consequently, its influence on the economy, politics, intellectualism, art and architecture of the modern world cannot be over-emphasized. In other words, Egypt can be called the founding father of most of the world's systems. However, there has been continuous improvement, change and modification of the systems originally established in Egypt. As such, this article goes back to the distant origins of art and architecture in Egypt and elucidates the progressive changes leading to today's practices in art and architecture. Egypt was initially divided into two independent regions, Northern Egypt and Southern Egypt, each under a different ruler. Special hats were made and worn by rulers as a sign of authority. Around 3000 BC, Narmer, the king of the southern region, gathered his army to conquer the northern region (Moffett, Fazio, and Wodehouse 54; Dorman 7).
