The polar bear is a huge and powerful animal, it is also the main predator of the Arctic and the largest land carnivore in the world. But unfortunately there are not that many polar bears living in the Arctic because they are believed to be endangered spies. Polar bears are endangered/threatened due to the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil which release high amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that traps solar energy and causes the Earth's climate to warm. Without these greenhouse gases the Earth would be too cold for life to survive, but the enormous amount of carbon dioxide released is all caused by human activities that unbalance the Earth's climate. This climate change has caused the Arctic's temperature to rise almost twice as fast as the global average temperature. This has already had effects on the Arctic today.
