Today, the raging battle over how parents feed their children is at its height. Breastfeeding was just one of the ways mothers could feed their babies, until the 20th century, when formula was invented (Jana, 2013). For many years after the creation of infant formula, breast milk was still the most common form of infant nutrition. Scientists and researchers began studying formula and soon created a more potent form of breast milk that made it more convenient for the family. Whether parents choose to breastfeed or use formula, they need to understand that there are different benefits, plus both are good choices for feeding babies. In recent years, breastfeeding has been strongly promoted around the world. Scientists have proven that breastfeeding has many health benefits that formula milk does not. Breastfed babies tend to be smarter than those who are not. Due to the fatty acids and proteins contained in lactated milk, it promotes brain growth. Breast milk contains special proteins that help prevent diseases such as ear infections, lung infections, and sudden infant death syndrome (Healthandwellness, 2007). Breastfeeding is not only good for the baby, but it is also beneficial for the mother. One way that breastfeeding can help the mother is that it has been shown to reduce the risk of ovarian and breast cancer (Healthandwellness, 2007). Not to mention, breastfeeding helps the baby's mother quickly return to her pre-pregnancy weight by burning extra calories. Convenience is always an important factor for parents when choosing how to breastfeed. Most of the disadvantages of breastfeeding stem from the inconvenience it brings. For example, breast milk is always free and attached to the mother, but it is… the center of the card… if they bring something unique to the table. Works Cited Health and Wellbeing.
