The Board of Education in the United States has occurred at different times. In border states, school desegregation occurred easily. Although most whites in the border states opposed school desegregation, they were not particularly affected by it. In these states, politicians recognized Brown's decision, as did newspapers, religious organizations, unions, and teachers' associations. Blacks had political power, money to file lawsuits against segregation, and branches of the NAACP were strong.
