They didn't seem to believe they needed to take that class. It was almost as if they didn't think they needed to know how to parent. As if they believed that it wasn't their job to know how to parent because they aren't women. Again, why? Why don't men realize that it's not just a woman's job to know how to parent? When it was my turn to take care of the "newborn", I was worried about the reactions of others, especially boys, in my classes. He was a simulated baby, so he made sounds and cried when he needed to be changed, fed, etc. Every time the baby made even a coo, the kids in my class would jump or move away from it. Even though he was a fake baby, they didn't know how to handle him and expected me to do what I had to do. This is just another way the gender stereotype has been forced into mine
