Topic > Socrates in the Apology - 769

“We must say that we must never do evil intentionally, or that in a certain sense we should not do evil, or to do evil is always evil and dishonorable, as I have just said now saying, and how has it already been recognized by us? (Dover p.49)” Socrates' standard is that he refuses to see justice as an eye for an eye. He believes that logical arguments and persuasion should be the defense of the accused. Socrates believes that since he cannot convince the people who have spoken out against him, that there is no other option but to pay the penalty imposed on him.
