During this time, most celebrities who did press for their films dressed themselves or were dressed by costume designers from their respected studios. Studios began to stop paying for these clothes and one of the first designers to step forward was “Giorgio Armani, one of the first European designers with a stand-alone store in Beverly Hills” (Grigoriadis, 2014). She dressed Richard Gere for an event and it was really the first time anyone had seen a designer do something like that. This has been very well received in the industry. We know this because “The following year Armani dressed a dozen stars” (Grigoriadis, 2014). Once we got to the '90s “Other designers who quickly understood the value of the red carpet – Gucci, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Gaultier, Alberta Ferretti and Carolina Herrera – began to get into the game, stars were overwhelmed with choices. Which means “It made sense for them to hire stylists to make a selection and bring the clothes to their home so they could choose with complete peace of mind” (Grigoriadis, 2014) without the hassle of people noticing them while they were shopping and asking them many things he had it just becomes easier to hire a stylist. This created the Hollywood stylist and this is what has kept fashion at the forefront of the entertainment industry putting the red carpet on the red carpet
